Summer Solstice

the 21st of June

It feels all wrong,

Because sunshine makes you cold,

And stability

Sleepy but safe, but

Deathly afraid

Of destitute dreams…

“Of course, I can defer your calling. Please hold.”

I guess that’s it then, when

You’re unhappy,

Everything feels wrong,

Even if it’s actually alright, and

The sun’s shining at night, and

The weather’s great, and you hate how everyone goes along,

And the salty Sound smells

Sweet as trilling birdsong.

It all still feels so — so wrong, like

The day is far too fucking long,

And long just don’t belong.
